Gentle, steady care through your midlife change

Because when your sleep, mood, energy, and body begin to change, it can be difficult to feel like yourself.

You may be more tired than usual, wake during the night, feel emotionally unsettled, or notice that stress affects you more than it used to. Your body may also feel tighter, heavier, or slower to recover.

These changes are real, and they are not something you simply have to push through.

My approach is gentle and steady. Each treatment is designed to help your body slow down, release tension, and settle into a calmer state. Over time, the goal is to support better rest, steadier energy, improved resilience, and a greater sense of comfort in your body.

David Li Rong providing acupuncture treatment at Yisheng Acupuncture & Wellness in Surrey BC

About Me

Why I Practice This Way

My name is David Li Rong. I am a B.C. Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P.), acupuncturist, and herbal medicine practitioner registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC.

My clinical experience includes working in private practice in Vancouver and training in a hospital setting at Panyu Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in China. I have also studied and completed hands-on clinical work with experienced TCM doctors in China and Taiwan, particularly in the areas of gynecology, infertility, and pain management. These experiences shaped a careful, practical, and clinically grounded approach to treatment.

But the way I practise today has also been shaped by my own life.

I believe your health is one of your most important assets. When you neglect it for too long, your body eventually begins to show you what it can no longer carry.

I am a father of two, and I understand the responsibility of caring for a family, managing work, and trying to keep everything moving. As my responsibilities increased, so did the stress. After I turned 40, I began to notice a much sharper change in my body. My energy was no longer as reliable, recovery took longer, and it became harder to sustain the same pace of work and family life.

Even as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, I realized that knowing how to treat illness was not enough. I needed to understand more deeply how to preserve health, restore energy, and care for the body before exhaustion and recurring symptoms developed into more serious problems.

That realization led me to study more about yangsheng—the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice of nourishing life and supporting long-term health. It also changed the way I approach patient care.

Today, I focus not only on treating symptoms, but also on helping people slow down, recover, and support healthier aging. My approach is gentle and steady, with the goal of helping the body release tension, regulate more effectively, and become more resilient over time.

I want each treatment to give you something that is often missing from daily life: time to stop carrying everything, allow your body and mind to rest, and begin rebuilding your health in a more sustainable way.
