A Personal Journey into Chinese Medicine
Becoming a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner is one of
the most meaningful decisions I've ever made.
I've always felt a natural desire to care for others. But what began as an
interest in helping people gradually became something much
deeper—a journey of self-discovery that has helped me better
understand myself, others, and what truly matters in life.
What I find most rewarding isn't simply providing a treatment. It's seeing someone walk out feeling a little better, a little more comfortable, or a little more hopeful than when they arrived. Sometimes, just having someone listen and understand what they're going through can make a difference.
For me, Chinese medicine is more than a profession. It's a way to connect with people, offer genuine care, and find purpose through helping others.
My Experience and Approach
I am a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P.) in British Columbia, registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC.
My clinical journey has taken me from private practice in Vancouver to hospital-based training at Panyu Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in China. I've also had opportunities to learn and work alongside experienced TCM doctors in China and Taiwan, with particular experience in women's health, fertility concerns, and pain management.
These experiences taught me that while knowledge and clinical skills are essential, good care also requires patience, careful observation, and the willingness to truly listen.
Every person is different. I don't believe in treating everyone the same way, and I don't believe patients should feel rushed or overwhelmed by their healthcare choices.
Life Has Been One of My Greatest Teachers
Beyond my professional training, my own life has shaped the way I understand health.
I'm a father of two. Like many people, I know what it's like to juggle work, family responsibilities, and the constant pressure to keep everything moving.
When I reached my 40s, I began noticing changes in myself. I didn't have the same energy I once had. Recovery took longer, stress affected me differently, and simply pushing through wasn't always enough anymore.
It made me realize something important: even when we know how valuable our health is, it's easy to put ourselves last.
That experience led me to explore Yangsheng (养生), the traditional Chinese medicine philosophy of nourishing life and caring for our health as we age.
I began to see health differently—not simply as the absence of illness, but as something we need to nurture through the way we live, rest, eat, move, and manage the demands of everyday life.
And in many ways, that journey is still continuing. I'm learning to take better care of myself, just as I encourage my patients to do.
The Kind of Care I Believe In
Today, my approach is simple: listen first, understand the person, and offer care that fits their needs.
I combine acupuncture, herbal medicine, hands-on therapies, and other suitable techniques, always considering your comfort and personal preferences.
I believe patients deserve honest explanations, clear treatment options, and a practitioner who cares about their progress. I won't promise that every treatment will work, but I will listen, assess your response, and do my best to help you find a reasonable path forward.
Whether you're dealing with ongoing pain, digestive concerns, poor sleep, stress, or simply feeling that your body isn't quite what it used to be, I want you to feel comfortable sharing your concerns.
I understand that life can be demanding, and that taking care of yourself isn't always easy.
If there's one thing I hope you take away from meeting me, it's that you don't have to be just another appointment or another set of symptoms.
You're a person with your own story, responsibilities, struggles, and hopes.
And being able to support you along your health journey is one of the greatest rewards of the work I've chosen.
